Your challenge

As global director product line management you are responsible for developing the global product portfolio strategy of all products within the product-line Connection Technology. You pro-actively plan, organise and manage products from conceptual stage throughout the product life cycle to meet sales, financial and growth objectives. Based on your technical knowledge and understanding of the market you determine which products are essential in the product line Connection Technology, now and the future. Developing plans and launch ideas to identify products for existing and new markets is what drives you. You come up with new approaches in order to drive growth targets. You ensure that throughout our global organization all plans are aligned with overall business plans and financial/profitability objectives. Market trends, customer insights, competition and growth opportunities for new product launches is what keeps you busy. You are the linking pin between sales, research & development and the production facilities. Technical knowledge combined with a commercial touch are essential for this position in which you will work closely together with the global director of business development.

Main responsibilities

• create the strategic direction for Connection Technology
• establish, maintain and implement product plans for new and existing products
• renew the product portfolio based on market information and market analyses
• determine and execute market approach policy concerning products and pricing
• organise and manage product launches
• maintain up to date records on competitor activity
• offer support to sales, marketing and other internal departments

Your profile

• higher education/university degree
• technical background combined with commercial skills
• background and experience within installation technology, the market and application
• ability to undertake multiple projects, project management experience
• solid sales skills
• ability to work with cross-functional teams
• excellent organizational skills, analytical skills and be detail oriented
• excellent persuasive and interpersonal skills
• self-starter, proactive with a problem-solving attitude
• excellent written and verbal communication skills (Dutch and English)
• willing to travel up to 15%.

Your responsibilities in detail

Define product strategy
• Perform feasibility studies
• Defines profit requirements, improvements, strategy and timelines
• Ensure new product launches to meet financial objectives and market penetration targets
• Responsible for communication of product timeline’s, product development and phaseout strategies and schedules

Product management
• Define and prioritizes product ideas
• Reviews inventory with operations to ensure support of sales plans
• Identify and drive cost improvements of our product range (product rationalisation)
• Develops list prices and discount levels, expected profit margins and identifies delivery lead times requirements
• Product knowledge transfer to the organisation
• Manages product data in cooperation with the Masterdata network.

Product marketing
• In conjunction with marketing, writes, proofs and lays out product and market related PR functions. Prepares technical articles and or white papers
• Supports in trainings for customers and end users. Contributes to training modules.
• Drives advertising and promotional programs
• Attends trade shows/functions

Business development
• Analyzes markets, determines trends and outlines the competitive landscape for each product
• Works with sales and identifies new product opportunities. Performs market and customer research regarding product modifications and/or new products
• Develop product related business studies
• Conducts product introductions, webinars and similar activities.
• Motivates and works closely with representatives, engineers, end user and distribution to promote and specify assigned product lines

Market research
• Research (new) product opportunities
• Analyze competitors
• Responsible for reporting market research results and findings to stakeholders
• Develops, with marketing, product marketing tools to support sales activities
• Reviews and advises sales and management on special pricing requested by sales representatives
